What is National Accounts Receivable Appreciation Day?
National Accounts Receivable Appreciation Day celebrates the people, processes, traditions, and value of accounts receivable. It honors the A/R professionals who work tirelessly to collect outstanding sales and ensure that businesses can continue to make payroll, pay suppliers, and serve their customers.
When is National Accounts Receivable Appreciation Day?
National Accounts Receivable Appreciation Day is observed annually on March 3rd.
In 2024, National Accounts Receivable Appreciation Day falls on a Sunday.
It was commemorated on March 7th, 2019, by Invoiced.
Why was an accounts receivable day created?
Accounts receivable departments determine how consistently and successfully a business gets paid, but the challenging work this involves and those who perform it are seldom celebrated internally, let alone externally.
Without accounts receivable professionals and the work they perform, companies would not be able to collect payment, making operations like payroll a nightmare efficiently.
National Accounts Receivable Appreciation Day marks a time for businesses to share their gratitude for individuals performing this critical work.
How to celebrate National Accounts Receivable Appreciation Day
- Coworkers, supervisors, and senior executives of A/R professionals should go out of their way to make the day special. A few simple ideas include:
- Bringing a commemorative cake or flowers
- Buying them a cup of coffee
- Just saying thank you!
- Debtors can promptly pay any outstanding bills and invoices and, when possible, include a note of thanks in which the A/R professional has been attempting to collect payment. Do note that tipping is discouraged.
- If you’re a customer or client without an outstanding balance, consider sending a note of appreciation or token gift to the A/R representative.
- If you’re an A/R professional, your team might have fun with the following activities:
- Play “Pin the Invoice on the Ledger”
- Bash a pinata in the shape of the company’s largest outstanding debtor
- Accounts receivable vs. accounts payable tug-of-war.
